Teak Almirah or Modular Wardrobe? How to Choose Bedroom Storage
Choosing between a solid teak almirah and a modular wardrobe: sizes, door styles, inside layout, delivery in apartments and how long each lasts.
Bedroom storage is one of the biggest furniture decisions in a new home. Here’s how a free-standing teak almirah compares with a built-in modular wardrobe, and how to choose the right one.
Why choose a teak almirah
- It moves with you. A built-in wardrobe stays in the flat; an almirah comes to your next home. This matters most if you rent.
- It lasts. Solid teak doesn’t swell or sag with Bengaluru’s humidity, and doors stay aligned.
- It can be refinished. Years later, it can be repolished to look new.
Number of doors
- Two-door (about 3–3.5 ft wide): for a single person or a guest room. See the Two-Door Teak Almirah.
- Three-door (about 4.5–5 ft): the most common choice for a couple. See the Three-Door Grain Almirah.
- Four-door (about 6 ft): for the master bedroom.
Door styles
Choose plain panels for a clean look, carved doors for a traditional room, mirrored doors to make a small room feel larger (see the Mirror Drawer Almirah), or glass doors for display.
Inside layout
Tell us what you’ll store: hanging space for shirts and saris, shelves for folded clothes, drawers for smaller things and a locker for valuables. We plan the inside to suit.
Getting it into your flat
Large almirahs are made in sections and assembled in your room, so they fit through standard doors and apartment lifts. Check your ceiling height and leave a little space at the top.
Browse all teak almirahs, or pair one with a dressing table and cot in the same finish.
