Visiting a Teak Furniture Factory on Kanakapura Road: What You’ll See

Most furniture is sold far from where it is made. Ours is made a short drive from the showroom, at our own factory at Thalagattapura on Kanakapura Main Road. Customers are welcome to visit, and many come to see the teak and check their piece before it is delivered.

Why visit the factory?

• See the timber. We work only in solid Nilambur teak. At the factory you can see the planks before they are cut and understand why the grain and colour vary from piece to piece.
• Check your piece. If you’ve ordered a custom cot, almirah or sofa, you can see it before polishing and ask for small changes.
• Understand the price. Seeing the joinery, carving and finishing work makes it clear why solid teak costs what it does, and why buying direct from the maker saves money.

What happens in the factory

Selecting and cutting

Seasoned teak is chosen for each piece: wide, even boards for tabletops and panels, and the strongest sections for legs and frames.

Joinery

Frames are joined so they stay rigid for decades. This is what separates a teak cot that’s still silent after twenty years from one that creaks after two.

Carving and turning

Turned bed posts, spindles for swings and cradles, and carved headboards and mandir domes are shaped by hand.

Finishing and upholstery

Pieces are sanded and polished in Natural, Honey, Walnut or Espresso. Sofa, diwan and swing cushions are made in-house to fit.
